The questions we are asked most often, answered from what the association actually does.
What is Chnondir?
Chnondir is a Moroccan association based in Salé. It brings artificial intelligence and cybersecurity into public schools, so that students meet these fields at school rather than long after it.
Who are the workshops for?
Students aged 8 to 18, in Moroccan public schools, with priority given to girls and to under-served regions.
Does a student need any prior experience or equipment?
No prerequisites. No personal equipment. One laptop per team is enough. Students who had never written a line of code have shipped something by the end of a two-day hackathon.
What are TafraTech and UCipher?
TafraTech is the AI and data programme: what an ai engineer actually does — by doing it. UCipher is the cybersecurity programme: making an invisible job visible. Cybersecurity as a mathematical playground.
Where does Chnondir work?
Rabat-Salé-Kénitra, and Salé most of all. Workshops have run at public schools including École Pioneer Mohamed Hassar, Collège Moulay Rachid, Groupe Scolaire Ard Essalam and Lycée Ibnou Khaldoun in Bouznika.
How many students has Chnondir reached?
More than 700 students across seven TafraTech hackathons in its first two years, from primary through high school.
Who runs the workshops?
Volunteers. The association is carried by a network of more than thirty volunteer mentors.
How can I take part?
There are three doors: attend as a student, mentor a workshop as a volunteer, or partner with us to open a new region. Each has its own short form on the site.
